Day 4: Be content with what you have
We often find ourselves saying: “if only I had X, Y, Z.” Why is it so difficult to be content with where we at and what we have. As others look at us and think if only I had what they have.
Take today to be grateful for what you have. Remember my timing is not your timing and God’s timing for me is not His timing for you.
Day 3: Be Deaf
On a day-to-day basis we get upset about what others say to us and what we hear them say to others. We need to be deaf to all of it.
Today in the office a colleague was talking to another about my incapability. According to my knowledge I am capable, according to the rest of my colleagues I am capable. I had to take a deep breath and remind myself that today is be deaf day.
We need to be deaf to the negativity, deaf to the painful words, deaf to everything that weighs us down and doesn’t positively influence us.
In Proverbs 17 we are reminded to be deaf to anything that can crush our spirits and leavesus dry.
Proverbs 17:22 “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
Almighty God help us to be deaf to everything that weakens us and crushes us. Help us to focus on your love and positivity. Remind us that our acceptance is within you and not human form. Amen..
Day 2: Embrace God’s season
This is most probably the most said task the typical clichè but the least believed and done. Just recently I was reminded to embrace God’s season.
I run a ballet school and in October 2017 I held my annual show. Lots of excitement went into this and many friends and fanily joined. One of my friends, pregnant at the time, came to see the show.
When I visited her a few weeks after the show, this is what she said:” The ballet show was amazing and there were two things that stood out for me:
1. The christian music used throughout the show.
2. The little girl crying throughout her dance to the song Fears. That girl was facing her biggest fear crying but not once did she stop dancing. She knew the routine and never gave up. I was so touched by this and little did I know that I’d be facing my biggest fear the very next day.”
The next day her biggest fear was fighting in the hospital for her life and her baby’s but the baby unfortunately and heartbreakingly didn’t make it. Her first child, her first son, her head of the family, her new lover. May His Soul Rest In Peace.
In something so small I realised Embrace God’s season! I was upset at the girl crying on the stage, but little did I know God’s plan and purpose was bigger than mine. He ordained her to cry as a symbol of never giving up no matter what season is at your doorstep. This has been a source of strength to my friend with this little girl being a reminder that she had to push through, hold on tight and cling to her faith during this trying season in her life.
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.
Almighty Father please help me to embrace your season. Help me to accept your will and not mine. Father remind me that your seasons are ordained. Thank you that you make all things work together for my good. Amen.
Day 1: B+
I acclaim, declare and decree this day to be positive. From the moment my feet hit the ground I will be positive. As I walk into the office I will be positive. When my family texts me I will remain positive. As I go to bed tonight I will tell myself to be positive in the morning.
I will be Passionate about being positive.
I will be Optimistic in being positive.
I will be Sincere in my positivity.
I will be Intelligent in finding ways to stay positive.
I will be Tremendous at being positive
I will show Interest in striving to be positive.
I will be Very flexible to ensure I am positive.
I will be Eager to be positive.
It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.”Psalm 18:32-36
Lord Jesus, thank you for a mindset change. Thank you Lord that I can be positive about life. Positive about my current situation and positive about where you will take me. Instill within me a spirit of positivity that will never vanish. Amen.
The story of Daniel is very commonly read. Many of us have gotten so used to it we no longer realise the challenge it carries for us. However, the word of God can never become stale, it still carries power irrespective of how worn out we think of it to be. Daniel chapter 2 speaks of a ‘spoilt’ king, he had only spent over a year on the throne, yet had some impossible request to make of his ‘wise men’. It is normal for a king to demand the ‘demanding’ but not the impossible! However, a closer look at the bible reveals he didn’t even see the task as impossible, he thought the men were connived against him (verse 8-9). The king had so much belief in the wise men that they could reveal anything; how often people run after men like them looking for the impossible, things only God can give.
When Daniel heard what the king decreed, he didn’t question the king on why he made such a demand in the first place, he simply went, confidently, to tell the king he was a solution carrier (verse 14-16). You don’t need to ask the devil why he’s trying to torment you, he’s aware of your dominion but still wants to see how you exercise it. Daniel did not resign to fate, he stood his ground. He could have simply called on God and questioned “why must we die like this?!”, he could have also asked God to change Nebuchadnezzer’s mind. But he didn’t, He knew who he was! Several times we have asked God to do things we’re supposed to do. In Genesis 1:28, he said “have dominion”, not “I’ll give you dominion”. Until we realise this, we’ll remain subservient to the devil and his cohorts.
So, Daniel went to the king, fully persuaded the King of kings cannot fail and the Revealer of secrets was exalted. God wants to be glorified, but more than that, He wants to be glorified in His children. Take your stand today to take charge like Daniel, no believer is meant to be any less (Mark 16:17-18).
